ARK server runs best on Linux — specifically Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 or Debian 11. These distros are stable, well-documented, and play nicely with SteamCMD, which you’ll use to install and update the game files. We don’t pre-install anything, so you get a clean OS image and full control from the start. No forced panels, no bloat. Just SSH in, set up your environment, and deploy the server exactly how the ARK community expects it. Windows isn’t supported on our ARK VPS plans — Linux gives better performance and lower overhead for this kind of workload.

How much RAM does an ARK VPS need?
For a smooth experience with up to 10 players, we recommend starting with a plan that includes 4 dedicated CPU threads and at least 4 GB of guaranteed RAM. ARK is heavy on memory during world loads, tames, and raids — shared or burstable RAM will cause stutters. Our VPS uses KVM virtualization, so your resources aren’t borrowed from neighbors. If you’re planning to run mods or larger maps like Ragnarok later, you can scale up anytime without migrating. But for most private clans, 4 CPU cores is the sweet spot to keep tick rate stable and AI responsive.
